The Moon & Quill began in the corner of a one-bedroom apartment, surrounded by craft supplies, books stacked in every direction, and a dream that felt bigger than the space itself. What started as late-night projects and experiments slowly grew into a brand built on storytelling, creativity, and connection. Books have always been a big part of my life, and reading inspired me to believe that I could create something of my own—something that blended imagination with the handmade.
The Moon & Quill has always been about more than just making products. I am deeply passionate about human rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and protecting our environment. I believe creativity should reflect not just beauty but also values. That’s why inclusivity and sustainability guide every decision—from how I design, to the materials I choose, to the way I package and share my work. I want this shop to feel safe, welcoming, and thoughtful in every detail.
Caring for the environment is also central to who we are. Sustainability isn’t always easy, but we know it’s important, and we are continually looking for ways to reduce waste and make mindful choices. That means reusing materials when possible, choosing eco-friendly packaging, and designing products that last rather than contribute to throwaway culture. We believe small steps add up, and by being intentional with our practices, we can create pieces that not only bring joy but also respect the planet we all share.
Shopping with The Moon & Quill means becoming part of something bigger than just a purchase. Each order directly supports handmade artistry, sustainable practices, and a commitment to equality. Our mission is to create with heart and purpose, offering products that are as meaningful as they are unique. By supporting us, you’re helping nurture a small business that values people, community, and the environment—and together, we can keep creating a world where creativity and care go hand in hand.
The Moon & Quill began in the quiet corner of a one-bedroom apartment—wedged between overflowing bookshelves, baskets of yarn, and a little desk that became both sanctuary and workshop. At first, it was only a whisper of possibility: that stories, art, and handmade creations could belong together under one name. Each late-night project, every sketch on a scrap of paper, slowly built into something bigger than myself—something that began to feel like home.
Books were the first place I learned how to dream. They showed me that even from a small space, I could imagine worlds where creativity mattered. They taught me that no story is too small to be written, and that every character—real or fictional—deserves a voice. Those lessons followed me into my own hands, nudging me to turn daydreams into earrings, crochet, jewelry, scrunchies, and bookish treasures. Reading didn’t just spark inspiration—it gave me the courage to believe this dream could exist.
That dream has always been deeply personal. I identify as pansexual, and that truth shapes how I show up in my work. The Moon & Quill is more than a shop—it’s a space meant to feel safe and affirming, one that celebrates queerness, individuality, and the communities that have always fueled art and storytelling.
Teaching was another thread that wove itself into my journey. Working with twos and threes gave me patience, persistence, and a deep love for connection. One of those connections turned out to be life-changing: Amelia Lorden, whose child was in my very first class, would later open Damsel Romantic Bookstore. Years later, our paths crossed again, and her belief in me opened a door I didn’t know was waiting. Amelia’s encouragement gave me the chance to step into vending and root The Moon & Quill in the local creative community. That full-circle moment reminded me that growth is never a solo act—it’s built on relationships, trust, and generosity.
The shop exists today because of those people—friends, family, mentors, and customers—who showed up when the path felt uncertain, who bought the first handmade pieces, and who reminded me that dreams feel lighter when they’re carried together. That sense of community is stitched into everything I make.
At its heart, The Moon & Quill is intentional, and hopeful. I believe in human rights, in LGBTQ+ rights, and in the right for every person to feel safe, valued, and celebrated. I believe in caring for the planet we share—choosing materials thoughtfully, reusing where I can, and weaving sustainability into the very bones of my work. Creativity is powerful, but it’s even more powerful when it reflects what we stand for.
In the end, The Moon & Quill is more than handmade jewelry, crochet, or book-inspired treasures. It’s a love letter to imagination, to community, and to the belief that even the smallest creations can carry meaning. Every piece is part of a larger story: a reminder that magic doesn’t just live in books or stars—it can live in our hands, too.
